@MsMelChen @Mailchimp Even though it's more of a pain to set up, your best bet is something like Sendy w/AWS or a WordPress plugin like Mailster w/AWS or a membership plugin.
None of these silicon valley gatekeepers can be trusted. Substack will go down this path in 1-2 years.

Substack has no problem hosting disinfo.
Greenwald has made clear what he’s about.
Substack’s 1st high profile user was Taibbi +they chose to put out a podcast w him.
When I wrote a co-founder about why this was an issue in building community he asked for my time for free.

Ok this is a sign of a market top. When a substacker gets threatened w a legal action for plagiarism over the concept of identifying “compounders” by a fund maybe the 🐂 has run too long. Activist 🩳 can 🏖now! That being said this is great marketing:) I need engagement like this

@leilanitexas @neontaster @bonchieredstate It's just a smart way to make money. Playing the game can make you money. Greenwald is making a ton now on substack, but he wouldn't if didn't make a big fuss when he left. I respect the grift but doesn't mean it's a real censorship issue.

Off-the-shelf solutions like Gumroad and Substack are a tell. This stuff breaks down at scale.
It's fine for a 1 man newsletter, but not a 7, 8+ figure business.
Serious players use real enterprise software like Salesforce, or more commonly, proprietary platforms.

@drew_j @SubstackInc I like to put my ideas out there and share them with others. There's no way for me to do that via the Washington Post or some other news org. If people can't think and figure **** out, that's hardly my problem. I used to be a "real" journalist with real editors.

He’s released the full email chain on his substack. His messages are thorough and go bullet by bullet, hers are brief and full of cliches, like her statement here. Lack of precision is stark

@BrianCAlbrecht @SubstackInc @thedispatch Yes! I think it’s extremely valuable to have unfiltered pieces / written by non-journalists. It allows for better identifying the real life issues encountered by private actors. It’s bottom up rather than top-down. Medium and Substack are great for that!

@hunterw He said on his Substack blog that he deliberately put the work-in-progress version up because he wanted to show the precise version which had caused an issue. He specifically said it would have gone through proof-reading before actual publication on The Intercept.
