But for now, my view of crypto's ability to coexist in a world where we face increasing energy and climate problems is dim. Especially when the main benefit they tout is being decentralized, a solution in search of a problem.

@AWSSupport I’m aware of the GH issue. The purpose of my tweet is to prevent peers from an impacting change. I’m actively working with AWS support (who’s doing great BTW). Looking forward to the next AMI. Feature request: ability to roll-back to an older AMI would sweet in these edge cases.

so AWS a) appears to have done a credible job of spinning up its Elasticsearch fork and b) “plans” to tie off its primary moral liability on the issue, which is their usage of the Elasticsearch name.

@jonamichahammo @jamesqquick Cognito is AWS solution for authentication. The authentication is done on the front end and the JWT sent to the backend. One has to parse the JWT on the backend to make sure it’s valid and has not been tampered with. JWT’s are exposed in the browser. Which is a security issue.

I know nobody is gonna see this tweet, but an AWS engineer confirmed that Fortnite's netcode is very up to date, and that the issues with the lag appear to be a cross meshing issue between amazon servers cross region. This means it's going to be difficult to fix any time soon.

Tip: If using #hotwire (or actioncable) with redis on AWS (elasticache) and using encryption in transit/rest then be sure to set your cable.yml to use the "rediss://" scheme.
Notice the extra 's'.
